BIO | From shellfish farmers to creekside dwellers, communities across America are fiercely protecting their natural environments. In our animated series, we chronicle their efforts to preserve the land and waters that house and feed them.

Based on dozens of interviews with shellfish farmers across the country, Heard on the Half Shell is a community narrative of both fear and hope for the future of ocean farming in the face of climate change. We based the hand-drawn animations on real photographs of aquatic farmlands from the Gulf to Chesapeake Bay. The Nature Conservancy continues to show this film in Congress as part of their effort to enact better environmental protections to protect the history, heritage, and environment that makes shellfish farming possible.

Williamson Creek is a central greenbelt in Austin, Texas. Through community-led restoration efforts, this creek that was once full of trash is on its way to a thriving ecosystem for wildlife and people alike. We interviewed dozens of residents who live along the creek, creating both a history and a hopeful future, featuring hand-drawn animations based on photographs and descriptions submitted by community members.
